Belle-Vue, situated within easy
reach of Bergerac and its vineyards on the river Dordogne, is
in the heart of the country known as the cradle of prehistory,
half an hour's drive from the world-famous painted cave of Lascaux
and many other grottoes and prehistoric sites. Down the valleys
of the Dordogne and the Vézère are dozens of medieval
castles and close by lie the 13th century fortified towns of Monpazier,
Limeuil, Beaumont, Sarlat and other scenes of the Hundred Years
War. In the local markets and restaurants you will find the best
in fine wines and foods that this famously fruitful countryside
can produce. A little further afield and you are in the true wine
country of Saint-Émilion and Bordeaux itself and then the
Atlantic Ocean with its miles of pinewoods and sandy beaches.
